Relationship to me:- Great, Great, Great Uncle.
It would appear James lived his whole life in Moffat. His occupation is shown on his headstone as “flesher” which today would be a butcher.
Of their three known children, only Jane b1844 lived to adulthood, dying at age 53 on 3rd. April 1897 at Moffat where she was born.
John George was only 10 days old on 10th. September 1848, just 6 days after his mothers death, when he passed away.
Margaret b1844 died at Kennelhall parish of Johnston(e) at age 15 on 5th. January 1859. This is where records become confusing. There is a parish of Johnstone in the shire (county) of Dumfries but no record of any place named Kennelhall.
